“A test of a people is how it behaves towards the old. It is easy to love children. Even tyrants and dictators make a point of being fond of children. But the affection and care for the old, the incurrable, the helpless are true gold mines of a culture.” ~ Abraham J. Heschel

Many of you will know me from my Facebook page also called, “The Forgotten Ones: Compassion for the Elderly”. This blog is a way to share my own personal feelings and experiences as a volunteer for our treasured elderly. There will be stories of great joy and much sorrow. My sincere hope is that you will be moved and inspired to volunteer as well. This is the true purpose of my life - my greatest passion. Please join me on my journey to serve our lonely and forgotten ones as best I can.

“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” ~  Albert Pike
